Sheung Wan
Venner
A Nordic neighbourhood room — pastries by day, wine by night.
Notes
- It was hjem, a slow-living Nordic restaurant, before Elin Fu and Nelson Htoo turned it into a neighbourhood café — venner is Norwegian for friends. The Nordic pastries are baked fresh each day: skolebrød on a black rye sourdough base, filled with custard and scattered with coconut, alongside cinnamon cardamom buns and Verdens Beste, Norway's national cake. In the evening it becomes a wine bar, the bottles from small growers and priced without ceremony, poured against small plates like a goat's cheese cake and cured ham.
